In August of 2016, chef Laurel Burleson launched the Ugly Apple Food Cart. She has been cooking in professional kitchens since high school and has a degree in hospitality management. After cooking for several years around Chicago and Madison, she saw how much was going to waste of this fantastic Midwestern produce. She envisioned owning a cafe that focused on delicious local produce.
Hence, the Ugly Apple was born.
Like the story of the Ugly Duckling, the Ugly Apple might not be bought at market but can still make a beautiful fritter. Located in the northern suburb of Milwaukee; Mequon. The Club overlooks the beautiful southeastern Wisconsin scenery. The River Club of Mequon has three distinct nines that provide an abundance of beauty and plenty of challenges. Built in 1963, it was these 338 acres of elegant terrain that allowed original course designer David Gill, with recent upgrades from architect Bob Lohman, to incorporate water, rolling grasslands, and fairway-tightening timber into an enjoyable and stimulating test of golf for players of all skill levels.
