In 1998, the Grimaldi Family celebrated the 700th year of Regency, and on this occasion Prince Rainier III, who was known for his passion for cars, asked the Automobile Club of Monaco to organize an Old-timer Grand Prix for cars built between 1927 and 1967 as reminiscence to Monaco's history in the world of motor sport. The response of the collectors around the world is always enormous and since then, this is considered a "Must" of the historic races.
