Das Warner Grand gilt als „Art-Deco-Meisterwerk im Nachbarschaftsmaßstab“ und war Teil der Ära des Picture Palace, der magischen Jahrzehnte der 1920er und 1930er Jahre. Als die Popularität des Films zunahm, wurde der glamouröse Bilderpalast als Zufluchtsort konzipiert, als Ort, an dem Träume wahr wurden. Die Warner Brothers glaubten an diesen Traum und bauten drei aufwendige Art-Deco-Bilderpaläste in Beverly Hills, Huntington Park und San Pedro. Das Warner Grand Theatre in San Pedro, das erste mit Sound ausgestattete Theater in der South Bay, wurde am 20. Januar 1931 mit einer hochkarätigen Galapremiere der Öffentlichkeit zugänglich gemacht. Jack Warner taufte es „Das Schloss deiner Träume“, entworfen von seinem Chefarchitekten B. Marcus Priteca und dem Designer A.T. Heinsbergen. Pritica entwarf später Hollywoods berühmtes Pantages Theatre und viele andere.
