Today, there’s a whole world of event resources available online. You can find information on everything from how to negotiate venue rates to ideas for event swag to give away.

But one place you might not think about looking for the latest and greatest industry news and tips is LinkedIn, the go-to social network for business professionals.

One of the best features to take advantage of is LinkedIn Groups, a great place to both network with other event professionals and find content to help you stay at the top of your game.

So, what groups should you be joining and engaging in? Here are our top picks!

1. Event Planning & Event Management - the 1st Group for Event Professionals

This one comes from one of our favorite event resources, Event Manager Blog. Here, you’ll find informative content to keep you ahead of event industry trends and will be able to share best practices with the group’s 333,000+ members.

2. Events & Hospitality Industry Network by Cvent

Cvent’s LinkedIn Group unites meeting planners and event suppliers from across the world to network, exchange ideas, share experiences, and discuss the future of our industry. It’s a unique space where professionals in the meeting and hospitality industries can come together.

3. Event Managers

In this group, you can find discussions on event news, tips, social media, email marketing, ticketing, technology, and reporting and analysis. You’ll also occasionally see event surveys and polls in the group.

4. BizBash—Event Planners Gather

This one comes from BizBash, a popular source of ideas, news, and resources for event and meeting professionals. Join to make contacts and share best practices, ideas, and resources.

5. Sales & Marketing Tips & Strategies for Event Planners, Meeting Planners & Event Managers

This group is uniquely dedicated to sales and marketing tips for event professionals. You’ll find content on sales and marketing strategies and challenges, lead generation strategies and tools, how to launch an event planning business, and more.

6. Career Advice for Event Planning & Management

If you’re interested in professional development, this group is focused on event planning career advice and other career related issues. Topics include starting out in the industry, advancing your career, managing professional relationships, and how to transition out of the industry.

7. Event Marketing Pros

A strong marketing and promotion plan is key to any successful event strategy. This LinkedIn group is focused on just that, helping professionals to get their events in front of their audiences to drive awareness, interest, and attendance.
