Hot on the heels of the 2017 list of top MICE hotels in APAC announced a month ago, Cvent has revealed its annual list of the top 25 destinations for meeting and events in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. This is the second destination list released for the APAC region, the first being released in 2016.

Singapore, as it did last year, claimed the top spot on the 2017 list, followed by Sydney (#2), Bangkok (#3) and Kuala Lumpur (#4). Hong Kong (#5), Shanghai (#6), Melbourne (#7), Tokyo (#8), Mumbai (#9) and Seoul (#10) round out the top 10.

Australia has also emerged as a big winner, with four Australian cities making it to the top 25 – the highest number of cities from any country on the list. In addition to top 10 cities Sydney and Melbourne, were both Brisbane (#17) and Gold Coast (#23). India and the Philippines closely follow, with three cities from each country securing a place in the list. Mumbai (#9), one of the three Indian cities on the list, landed in the top 10 by vaulting 11 places up from last year. Phuket (#14) and Osaka (#24) both made their debut on the list in 2017.

This year’s list has been compiled after analysing the activity on the Cvent Supplier Network from January 2016 through December 2016. More than 500 cities in the APAC region featured on the network were evaluated. The destinations were ranked based on a set of qualifying criteria, such as unique request for proposals received, total room nights requested in request for proposals (RFPs), awarded RFPs, awarded room nights, percentage of qualified meeting venues and number of profile views. Additionally, Cvent looked at the change in average daily hotel rate between 2015 and 2016 for each city on the list.

You can view the entire list here.

Cvent has released a similar list for top meeting destinations in the EMEA region, which you can access here. For more, check out our blog post on the EMEA list.
