The opening of the Montego Bay Convention Centre (MBCC) in 2011 signaled an important addition to Jamaica's tourism product offering, the MBCC, with its improved facilities and technological capabilities has been steadily driving Jamaica’s thrust into the Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions (MICE) market.

Bedsides its intelligent design, the MBCC is also visually striking. Attendees have views of both the coast and the mountains and the centre’s plantation style shutters and cut stone work recall Jamaica’s classic Georgian style of architecture. The open-air layout of the facility- the meeting, exhibition and ballroom spaces are all housed in three separate buildings and connect via outdoor walkways –giving attendees the chance to get outside more than the typical convention centre might allow.

The Montego Bay Convention Centre has become an important node in driving large events into Jamaica. Hosting international, regional and local conventions and incentive groups from the United States to Brazil, some with as many as 1500 delegates. Recently, the centre hosted the successful UNWTO Global conference on job creations with over 1,000 delegates, IOSCO 2017 and the Caribbean and Tourism Marketplace with 1,200 delegates earlier this year.

The continued expansion of the MICE market globally will enable Jamaica through the convention centre to carve a greater share in this market and give guests an opportunity to experience the best of Montego Bay while attending meetings and conferences.

Montego Bay is Jamaica’s tourism capital and second largest city and offers some of the best advantages to the MICE market. With its diverse tourist attractions including adventure tours, restaurants and nightclubs and high-end hotels, golf courses and spas it is one of the best meeting destinations.

Groups get the conveniences of duty-free shopping, attractions such as cruising the bioluminescent Luminous Lagoon, snorkeling the pale aqua waters of Doctor’s Cave Beach, visiting craft markets, enjoying horseback riding on the beach, or sea cruises on catamarans.  Another key element is Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, voted the Caribbean’s leading airport with airlift from over 30 major cities throughout the United States, Canada and the Latin America.

Surrounding the Montego Bay Convention Centre are more than 6,000 hotel rooms, including the world-renowned Half Moon, Sandals Resorts, Hyatt Ziva and Zilara Hotels, shopping centers, and three championship 18-hole golf courses. The MBCC is literally at the center of possibilities for meeting in Montego Bay.

The SMG managed Montego Bay Convention Centre offers one of the best meeting destinations to planners, the multi-award-winning facility has an ideal location with breathtaking views and surrounded by hotels and tourist attractions.
