Already a popular destination amongst leisure travellers around the world, Singapore has now become the most ideal destination for organising exceptional meetings, conventions and exhibitions in the Asia-Pacific region. Preserving the top spot in the Cvent’s list of Top Meeting Destinations in Asia Pacific for three years in a row, Singapore has confirmed its strength and popularity in the international MICE market.

With its offering of 59,241 sleeping rooms across 262 hotels and a multitude of meeting venues, the country can easily accommodate all types and sizes of events effortlessly. Singapore boasts of some of the best meeting hotels in the world such as Shangri-La Hotel featuring about 4,000 square metres of meeting space; Hilton Singapore, which offers 32 meeting rooms with varied space configurations; Pan Pacific Singapore with 790 luxury guest rooms; Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel, home to 1800 square metres of function space divided in 12 versatile meeting rooms, including a pillar-less Grand Ballroom; the luxurious property of InterContinental Singapore offering a strategic location; and the JW Marriott Hotel Singapore South Beach featuring more than 1,700 square metres of meeting space.

For large meetings and conventions, Singapore has Singapore EXPO, an award-winning facility that can easily accommodate exhibitions, conventions, meetings, and expos. This convention and exhibition centre features a total indoor and outdoor space of 123,000 square meters across 42 meeting rooms. Suntec Singapore is another world-class exhibition centre of international stature. With all modern-day amenities and a convenient location, this venue with 42,000 square meters of space has been a home ground for several global events.

Speaking of events, this island country has a good amount of experience in hosting major prestigious international events. In 2015, this island nation hosted first-in-Asia conference World Confederation of Physical Therapy Congress and the European Society for Medical Oncology Asia. Since then, Singapore has continued to deliver quality service to the meetings industry, and there’s no looking back. Just in the past month, the country welcomed over 11,000 delegates for Asia’s leading travel trade show, ITB Asia 2018.

The Singapore Tourism Board is working aggressively to retain Singapore’s position as a prime convention destination in the international MICE landscape. Most recently, the country bagged two prestigious international events – the World Congress on Intelligent Transport Systems 2019, which is expected bring more than S$10 million* in tourism receipts, and the Lions Club International Convention 2020, which can generate more than S$58 million* in tourism receipts. This clearly testifies Singapore’s international appeal, strategic location, lively cityscape and robust infrastructure that beguiles a large number of meetings and events planners from around the world.
