There’s no doubt about Hong Kong’s position as one of the fastest growing financial and technological hubs in Asia. The city has built a great rapport with business travelers from around the world, which is why Hong Kong has also grabbed its position amongst top MICE destinations in the region. There are multiple reasons why Hong Kong stands out amongst other Asian destinations for MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) tourism. Let’s take a look at some of the reasons that make this city one of the most sought-after destinations for meetings and events.

Exceptional Connectivity

Hong Kong features a large number of direct flights to all the major cities around the world. The Hong Kong International Airport operates more than 100 airlines, with 900 daily flights to 160 worldwide destinations, including 45 destinations on the Chinese Mainland. The airport serves more than 200 flights from the United States each week and offers nonstop service from Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, and Chicago. The airport is also well-connected with the city center via swanky Airport Express trains that take only 24 minutes to reach downtown Hong Kong.

Impressive MICE Infrastructure

Hong Kong is counted amongst some of the best cities on the globe when it comes to infrastructure. The city boasts of a strong portfolio of meetings and events facilities comprising a number of meeting hotels, a variety of independent event venues and gigantic conference and exhibition centers. AsiaWorld-Expo, one of the prominent exposition centers in the city, features more than 400,000 square feet of meeting space. The center is Asia's only ground level column-free venue, which is directly connected to the Hong Kong International Airport. The city has some of the finest meeting hotels, which include Kowloon Shangri-La, Hong Kong, which offers more than 110,000 square feet of meeting space; The Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong, with state-of-the-art meeting facilities and more than 300 guestrooms; and Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong, which features a strategic location and is one of the best luxury hotels in the city.

Host of Popular International Events

The city has been a proud host of some of the prestigious international events, including the ASAE’s Great Ideas Conference 2015, Hexagon’s International Conference and Tech Expo in 2015, and the 26th International Congress of the Transplantation Society in August 2016. In the coming time, Hong Kong will be honored to witness more such world-class events, including the Eco Expo Asia – International Trade Fair on Environmental Protection (25-28 Oct 2018), Asia Licensing Conference (7-8 January 2019), and MarketingPulse – Asia’s Premier Conference for Marketers and Brands (20th March 2019).

Outlook

The travel and tourism industry has been a dominating contributor to the rapid progress of the Hong Kongs’ economy. The Chinese government is driving Hong Kong’s development according to the MICE tourism demand. The government is also making focused investments for exploring the city’s maximum MICE potential.
