As higher education institutions continue to compete for students and funding, it’s important to offer a comprehensive and engaging events program that sets your school apart. A total events program is more than just hosting a few events throughout the year; it’s about creating a cohesive experience that appeals to a variety of audiences.

Here are some tips for creating a successful higher education total events program:

  • Set clear goals: Before planning any events, it’s important to define your goals. Are you trying to increase enrollment, engage current students, or build community relationships? Once you’ve identified your goals, you can tailor your events to achieve them.

  • Use data: Use data to inform your event planners. Look at attendance numbers, feedback from previous events, and demographic information to determine what events will be most successful.

  • Collaborate: Work with other departments, student organizations, and community partners to create events that appeal to a diverse audience. Collaborating also helps to share the workload and resources.

  • Offer a variety of events: Don’t limit your events to just traditional campus events like homecoming or graduation. Offer events that appeal to a variety of interests, such as career fairs, guest speakers, cultural festivals, and wellness activities.

  • Utilize technology: Use tools like Cvent’s emails, event and session tracking, and reports to promote your events and track attendance. Cvent’s Attendee Hub also allows you to offer virtual events, which can reach a wider audience.

  • Evaluate and adjust: After each event, evaluate its success and make adjustments as needed. Use feedback from Cvent's Surveys to improve future events.

By creating a higher education total events program, you can create a vibrant campus community that attracts and engages students, faculty, staff, and community members.
