Every year Cvent reveals Top Meeting Destinations worldwide based on the MICE activities observed on its venue sourcing platform – Cvent Supplier Network throughout the year. Cvent curated this eighth annual list after analysing more than 11,000 cities worldwide featured on its venue sourcing sites. The activity was tracked from January 2018 through December 2018 and destinations were ranked according to specific criteria such as number of profile views, unique request for proposals received, total room nights received, awarded RFPs, awarded room nights and percentage of qualified meeting venues. For this year’s lists, Cvent also included sourcing activity from Lanyon Group and SpeedRFP to encompass its full suite of sourcing solutions.
London retained the number one position for the fifth consecutive year on the list of Top 25 Meeting Destinations in Europe. With 1,012 meeting hotels and five major convention centres spread over 2,109,000 square metres of meeting space, London conforms to its status as one of the world’s greatest business and events destinations.

The United Kingdom and Germany featured the most number of cities on the 2019 list (four each). Besides London, the other U.K. cities include Birmingham (up by five spots to the 15th rank), Manchester (up by two spots to the 20th rank) and Edinburgh, which is a new addition to the list at number 22. German cities continue to rank high up in the list with Berlin acquiring the second spot, Frankfurt retaining its position at number seven, Munich taking the tenth spot and Hamburg has now moved up by two places from last year to acquire the 21st position.
The 2019 list shows that the Eastern European cities are gaining momentous popularity. Prague has moved back into the Top 10 acquiring the ninth position, moving up three places from last year, whilst Istanbul (#23) has debuted into the Top 25. Budapest is now number 16 (up by two places from last year), whilst Warsaw has also made it to the Top 25 for the first time at number 24.
