This week, we sit down with expert event MC Mark Jeffries. He walks us through the value an event MC or great moderator can bring to an event. It isn’t another expense, an MC can take an event to the next level and keep attendees engaged. Find out some tips and tricks of the trade and how to find your own event MC.

What to listen for:

  • Don’t think you need an MC? Find out what value they bring
  • Be an event to remember
  • We don’t always listen to what dad or mom says
  • An emcee can make a difference no matter the size of an event
  • The big question – how much does it cost?
  • Don’t quit your day job
  • Intention should equal effort
  • Language should reflect the language of the audience
  • A good moderator creates does some heavy lifting
  • Business challenges are never as unique as you might think
  • Cue You’ve Got a Friend in Me
  • Whispers *are you one of us?*
  • It’s MC, not emcee
  • Moderators moderate, rate, rate, rate, rate while the emcees
  • Count those coughs
  • Don’t let the moderators run away – they’re the heart of the event and should give you insight
  • As far of technology has come, presentations are still in the dark
  • The power of the Jimmy Fallon approach
  • Let’s talk brass tacks, what does this cost?
  • Remember: for a moderator, inventory is one day at a time
  • Word of mouth, speaker bureau, or just google it
  • Does their sizzle reel sizzle?
