The association Meetings Programme (AMP) is ICCA’s new annual event, where the members of ICCA (International Congress and Convention Association) and international association
executives will learn from each other and form a top faculty of experts about key aspects of bidding and decision-making, organizing, promoting, and designing international association meetings. The first ICCA AMP was held in Stavanger, Norway in July 2016 and Fukuoka, Japan was selected as destination for the first ICCA AMP held outside of Europe. Attendance for Association Executives is complimentary and upon invitation only. In this event they have chance to meet various people from convention bureaus, hotels, conference venues from all over the world and also can enjoy the site visits and delicious Japanese cuisine. Please contact Ms. Nakagami of Fukuoka Convention & Visitors Bureau for more information.
Fukuoka is one of the largest cities in Japan, has a population of 1.5 million people, and has been growing rapidly as a commercial city in recent years to become a new MICE city and tourist destination–as an alternative to Tokyo and Kyoto. The city has flourished as a gateway for cultural and economic exchange with Asia since ancient times.
There are shrines, temples, and historic building dotted around the city and numerous world and cultural heritage sites are in and around Fukuoka. The city is facing the sea and surrounded by the mountains, making various activities possible such as fishing, fresh fruits picking, canal punting and bathing in hot springs. Being as the business hub and knowledge center, there are factories, technology sites, research centers to see the advanced production, next generation technology or unique creative industry.
Fukuoka is easily accessible from other Asian countries, such as Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines and China. Finnair is scheduled to restart their operation from April 2017, making the access from Europe far easier. It is easy for the travelers from North America, with just one connection in Seoul, Shanghai, Beijing or with frequent domestic flights from Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya.
The number of international conferences held in Fukuoka has been the country’s second largest for 7 years in row. The visitors will find out the hospitality of Fukuoka and the reason why Fukuoka is popular as the destination for the international conferences. Fukuoka, with its rich nature, history and culture, will bring a variety of experiences beyond your expectations.
